The Invicta…at night!

The Invicta – Undefeated?

There are a plethora of Indian restaurants in Whitstable some good and some not so good. My most recent visit was to the self proclaimed oldest curry house in Whitstable, The Invicta.

The Invicta certainly looks the oldest both inside and out however that does not mean the curry won’t be any good.

To be frank I went after a few pints down the Pearson’s (which probably serves the worst crisps ever invented, Kentish crisps anyone?) and it was fairly late in the day approx 10ish but a curry house is surely to be visited in this situation? Read the rest of this entry »

Toby Carvery – Thanet Ramsgate!?

Ok my first review is going to be a pub restaurant that’s not even in Whitstable!….hmm bizarre but there is method to my madness.  Along with my view to provide a resource for eating in Whitstable I also want to discover such things as where is the best Sunday lunch, what is the best restaurant to take the family, where can you get decent food at a decent price and this Pub restaurant ticks some of those boxes.  So far I am yet to discover a similar offering within Whitstable.  More on that later.

There is considerable snobbery when it comes to restaurants as well all know and yes this is a chain place, and yes some people wouldn’t even consider it for that premise alone but everything has its place in some form another and the key is to whether it’s actually any good.

whistable sunset

I have written for the Times, Guardian and Time Out……errr……actually most food blogs seem to start this way, however I am an amateur blogger with a passion for food, Whitstable and I simply love eating!

My idea for this blog has come about as there is currently no blog or food review site that is dedicated to Whitstable, a lot of people have been and gone and tend to have visited the more well known or what are considered the “name” restaurants  within Whitstable.  My aim is to honestly review all the food (as well as the service) within Whitstable from your local kebab shop to your Michelin Star establishment.  I hope to provide a resource that is available for the visitor as well as the local.

I suppose you are asking well what makes me qualified, well not a lot (!) but I have eaten in restaurants across the world, some of the most famous and some of the most infamous, I love cooking and I love the experience of visiting a place to eat.

Aside from the food, service can make or break a meal so I will also be focusing heavily on this aspect.

I appreciated all feedback whether positive or negative as this will help me shape the blog to be a useful as possible.

Enjoy!
